With a view to spread awareness about nature & its conservation, we are pleased to announce launch of…. Printed bookmarks of biodiversity at & around Dapoli – A set of 12 bookmarks is available which contains photos showing glimpses of biodiversity.  Nature Colouring Activity Booklet for children – In this colouring booklet, all the sketches of various components of nature are drawn by Jilpa and colour guidelines are given for each. Upon colouring the object, it will be similar to the one in nature. This will help the children relate to these components of nature.

पर्यावरण विषयक जाणीव जागृती निर्माण करण्याच्या उद्देशाने आपल्यासाठी २ नवीन वस्तू उपलब्ध करताना आम्हाला खूप आनंद होत आहे. छापील बुकमार्क – (बुकमार्क म्हणजेच पुस्तकात ठेवायची खूण ) हा १२ बुकमार्कचा सेट असून दापोली परिसरातील जैवविविधतेचे फोटो घेऊन छापलेले आहेत. “निसर्गातील घटकांची चित्रे रंगवा” ही पुस्तिका. ही पुस्तिका विशेष करून मुलांमध्ये निसर्गाविषयी गोडी निर्माण व्हावी या दृष्टीने तयार केली आहे. त्यातील सर्व चित्रे जिल्पाने स्वतः काढलेली आहेत. प्रत्येक चित्राला रंगवण्यासाठी मार्गदर्शन दिलेले आहे. रंगवून पूर्ण होणारे चित्र आणि निसर्गातील ते घटक यामधील साम्य लक्षात आल्यावर मुलांची निसर्गाच्या त्या घटकाशी ओळख होईल. Meet a Plant Common Name: Kumbhi कुंभी Botanical Name: Careya arborea Family: Lecythidaceae Description: Medium to large deciduous tree found in forests throughout India. Flowers are white in colour. Flowering season:  February – March हा मध्यम ते उंच वाढणारा पानगळी प्रकारचा वृक्ष आहे. त्याची पांढरी फुले फेब्रुवारी – मार्च महिन्यात दिसतात.

Nature trails (निसर्ग भ्रमण ) Further to good response for our nature trail activity, we are now planning to organize declared nature trails & mangrove walk at Anjarle. We will be interacting with the tourists on Saturday evening and taking booking of interested persons. Of course this will depend on our availability as well as response from tourists. Environment Conservation (पर्यावरण संवर्धन) Turtle Festival (कासव महोत्सव) Sahyadri Nisarga Mitra Chiplun started marine turtle conservation project since the year 2002 in village Velas. Since then their consistent efforts have resulted in successful protection to nests & safe release of hatchlings in the sea. Nature education activities spreading out….

आम्ही सुमारे वर्षभरापूर्वी सुरु केलेला ‘निसर्ग परिचय उपक्रम’ हा विषय आता दापोली परिसरात रुजू  लागला आहे. ज्या निसर्गाच्या ओढीने सर्व जण दापोलीला येत असतात त्यांना हा निसर्ग जवळून अनुभवण्याचा आणि इथल्या निसर्गाच्या अंतरंगाची थोडीशी झलक दाखवण्याचा एक प्रयत्न आम्ही आमच्या विविध निसर्ग परिचय उपक्रमातून करीत असतो.

The concept of nature education activities that we started a year ago is taking roots in Dapoli region. It is the nature at & around Dapoli that attracts many tourists here. Through our nature education activities we try to give a feel of nature to our participants.

गेल्या वर्षात आम्हाला वेगवेगळ्या जीवनशैलीतील तसेच वेगवेगळ्या वयोगटातील लोकांसाठी हे कार्यक्रम घेण्याची संधी मिळाली. ह्या सर्व लोकांची व्यावसायिक पार्श्वभूमीदेखील वेगवेगळी होती. विशेष म्हणजे ह्या सर्वांना आमचे निसर्ग परिचय उपक्रम तसेच निसर्ग भ्रमण ही संकल्पना खूपच आवडली. गेल्या वर्षभरात आम्ही २० पेक्षा अधिक निसर्ग परिचय उपक्रम घेतले ज्यात निसर्ग भ्रमण, खारफुटी वनांचा परिचय, निसर्ग चित्रकला आणि रंगभरण  तसेच रोपवाटिकेला भेट व कार्यानुभव ह्याचा समावेश आहे. ह्या सर्व उपक्रमांद्वारे आम्ही ३५० पेक्षा अधिक लोकांपर्यंत पोहोचलो. ह्यामुळे आमचा उत्साह द्विगुणीत झाला आहे. या कार्यक्रमात सहभागी झालेले सर्वजण आणि अशा कार्यक्रमांना पर्यटकांपर्यंत पोहोचवणारे दापोली परिसरातील हॉटेल व्यावसायिक तसेच सहल आयोजकांच्या सहयोगामुळे आम्ही हा टप्पा गाठू शकलो. या सर्वांचे आम्ही आभारी आहोत.

आज मुलांना शाळेत पर्यावरण हा विषय असल्यामुळे विविध निसर्ग परिचय कार्यक्रमातून त्यांना निसर्गातील विविध घटक बघायला मिळू शकतात. हा निसर्गाचा अनुभव त्यांच्या मनात निसर्गाची गोडी निर्माण करू शकतो. त्याच बरोबर शाळेतील प्रकल्पांसाठी देखील मुलांना निसर्गामधून काही संकल्पना सुचू शकतात आणि असे प्रकल्प करीत असताना त्यापैकी काही गोष्टी दापोली भेटीदरम्यान प्रत्यक्ष अनुभवल्यामुळे एक वेगळाच आनंदही  होतो.

During last year we got an opportunity to conduct nature trails for groups from varied lifestyle & background; including various age groups. We have reached out to the trail participants who were from different professional backgrounds. All of them enjoyed & appreciated the concept of nature trail. During last year we conducted 20+ nature education activities including mangrove trail, visit to plant nursery & hands on experience, nature colouring activity & nature trails at & around Dapoli. Through these activities we reached out to 350+ participants. This has

boosted our moral. It is only because of all the participants and those hotel owners and tour operators who promoted our activities that we could achieve this. We are thankful to all of them. Our trail participants have experienced this feel of nature while enjoying their holidays at & around Dapoli in addition to the site seeing.

Now-a-days children have environment as one of the subjects in their school syllabus. While on a nature trail they get to experience and observe various components of nature. This can also give them various ideas for their project work at school. It can also lead to developing interest in nature.

The season is changing now. The cool winter days are over and temperature of the day is rising. Trees / shrubs that flower in this season are in full bloom. You can also participate in various nature education activities along with your family

आता हिवाळा संपून उन्हाळ्याला सुरुवात झाली आहे. या ऋतूमध्ये फुलणारी झाडे आता बहरू लागली आहेत.  विविध रंगानी बहरलेल्या  वनस्पती  – वृक्ष  वेली आणि  झुडुपे  खूपच  सुंदर  दिसातात. येणाऱ्या सुट्टीमध्ये आपण देखील आपल्या कुटुंब तसेच मित्रमंडळी बरोबर आमच्या निसर्ग परिचय उपक्रमात सहभागी होवू शकता.

Farming & Nature Introduction Centre Started at Anjarle

आंजर्ले गावी शेती व निसर्ग परिचय केंद्र सुरु

नमस्कार,

आमच्या आंजर्ले या गावी कोयल शेती व निसर्ग परिचय केंद्र सुरु झाल्याचे आपणास कळवताना आम्हाला आनंद होत आहे. या केंद्राचा शुभारंभ डॉ. श्री. नीरज अग्रवाल (Sr. Vice President – Vineyard Operations, SULA Vineyards, Nashik) यांच्या हस्ते दि. २८ जानेवारी  २०१२ रोजी झाला.

We are glad to inform you all that we have started “KOEL Farming & Nature Introduction Centre” at our native place – Village Anjarle. Dr. Neeraj Agarwal (Sr. Vice President – Vineyard Operations, SULA Vineyards, Nashik) did the honors by inaugurating the centre on 28th January 2012.

सन १९९९ मध्ये प्रशांत फुलशेती प्रकल्पामध्ये नोकरी करीत असताना  त्याला श्री अग्रवाल सरांबरोबर काम  करण्याची  आणि   त्यांच्या  मार्गदर्शनखाली   कृषिविषयक   प्रकल्पांच्या कार्य पद्धतीतील व्यावहारिक बारकावे समजून घेण्याची आणि शिकण्याची संधी मिळाली. या प्रसंगी आम्ही श्री. अग्रवाल सर आणि त्यांच्या कुटुंबियांचे आभारी आहोत.

कोयल (KOEL म्हणजेच Krishivarada Organic & Environment Learning) हे नाव आमच्या या केंद्राला ठेवण्यामागची भूमिका अशी आहे की ज्याप्रमाणे  कोयल (कोकीळ) पक्षी हा इतर पक्ष्यांच्या घरट्यात आपली अंडी घालतो त्याच प्रमाणे आम्ही आमचे पर्यावरण व निसर्ग विषयक विचार तुमच्या मनात रुजवू पहात आहोत. आम्ही अशी आशा करतो की ह्या विचारांना खतपाणी घालून त्याचा वटवृक्ष आपण सर्वजण कराल ज्यायोगे आपली पृथ्वी अधिक संपन्न होईल.

पर्यावरण आणि निसर्ग संवर्धन विषयक जाणीव व जागृती करण्याच्या उद्देशाने आम्ही हे केंद्र सुरु केले आहे. यामध्ये निसर्गाच्या अंतरंगाची झलक दाखवणारे काही फोटो आहेत.  पर्यावरण संवर्धनाचा संदेश देणारी काही पेपर कटवर्क ची चित्रे देखील आहेत. यामध्ये निसर्ग भ्रमण मध्ये दिसणाऱ्या विविध घटकांची (पक्षी, प्राणी, फुलपाखरे,  कीटक, कोळी इत्यादी) आणि झाडांची थोडीशी झलक दाखवण्यात आली आहे. कोकणातील निसर्गात खूपच विविधता आहे आणि ही  जैवविविधता तसेच येथील  निसर्ग  हेच पर्यटकांना आकर्षित करत असते. त्यामुळे आपण सर्वांनीच हा निसर्ग आणि त्यातील जैवविविधता समजून घेऊन त्याचे संवर्धन केले पाहिजे. आणि येथे येणाऱ्या पर्यटकांनीही हे पर्यटन शाश्वत पर्यटन करण्यासाठी प्रयत्न केले पाहिजेत. हे सर्व करीत असताना पर्यटक आमच्या निसर्ग भ्रमण, खारफुटी वनांना भेट,  रोपवाटिकेला भेट आणि कार्यानुभव अशा विविध निसर्ग परिचय उपक्रमात सहभागी होऊ शकतात की ज्यायोगे त्यांना निसर्गाचा अनुभव घेण्याची संधी मिळेल आणि त्यायोगे आपली निसर्ग संवर्धनाच्या दिशेने वाटचाल होईल.

अनेकजण आंजर्ले  - दापोली  आणि परिसराला पर्यटनाच्या निमित्ताने भेट देत असतात. त्यांना आता आमच्या आंजर्ले येथील केंद्रालाही भेट देता येईल. सध्या हे केंद्र शनिवार व रविवार (सकाळी ८:00 ते सायंकाळी ६:00) खुले राहील. सुरुवातीला आम्ही निसर्गविषयक दालन सुरु केले असून लवकरच शेती विषयक दालन सुरु करू. आपण आपले कुटुंबिय / मित्र / कार्यालयातील सहकारी यांना  या केंद्राविषयी कळवू शकता.

आपल्याकडून नेहमीच मिळत आलेला सकारात्मक प्रतिसाद आणि प्रोत्साहनाबद्दल आम्ही आपले आभारी आहोत.

We know Dr. Agarwal since 1999 when Prashant was working with him in a floriculture enterprise near Pune. While working under the guidance of Agarwal Sir, Prashant got an opportunity to learn many new things related to practical insights of Agri- Enterprise. We take this opportunity to thank Agarwal Sir & his family.

KOEL stands for Krishivarada Organic & Environment Learning. Also, just as the bird Koel lays its eggs in other bird’s nest, we aim to make way for our thoughts about nature & environment into your minds and hope that you will nurture these thoughts to make our planet greener & happier.

This centre is started with the aim of creating awareness about nature and importance of conservation. In this centre glimpses of nature’s varied life forms are given in the form of photos. We have also included few paper cutwork posters giving message of environment conservation. One gets idea about various creatures and plants that can be observed on a nature trail. We all know that Konkan is reach in biodiversity. In fact Nature in this part is the main attraction for visitors / tourists. Hence we all need to understand & conserve this nature & biodiversity. It is also very important that tourists contribute their part by practicing responsible tourism. While doing so, additionally they can participate in our Nature Education Activities like Nature trail, Mangrove trail, visit to plant nursery etc. which gives them a “feel” of nature. This ultimately leads to action-oriented conservation practices.

Many tourists visit our coastal village Anjarle during holidays and week ends when they enjoy a trip to destination DAPOLI & around. They can now visit our centre at Anjarle which will remain open on Saturday & Sunday (8:00am to 6:00pm). In the initial phase Nature section is started & we will be coming with Farming section in next phase. You may inform your family members / friends / colleagues so that they can visit our centre during their Dapoli – Anjarle trip.

Nature trails of the season

Winter has well set in and Dapoli being hill station we experience chilled days during this season. This year’s cold wave made the mercury fall well below 100C.

दापोलीत थंडीची लाट लोकांना चांगल्यापैकी गारठवू लागली आहे.

Many tourists visited Dapoli during year end holidays. I got opportunity to conduct nature trail for various groups during this period. These were at various locations as well. Positive response from trail participants was very encouraging.

दर वर्षी प्रमाणे यंदाही नवीन वर्षाच्या निमित्ताने भरपूर पर्यटकांनी दापोली व परिसरातील गावांना सुट्टी साठी पसंती दिली. मला ह्या दिवसांमध्ये वेगवेगळ्या ठिकाणाहून आलेल्या पर्यटकांसाठी निसर्ग भ्रमण कार्यक्रम घेण्याची संधी मिळाली.

Trails were conducted for tourists staying at various places like Amrute’s Nisarga Sahawas – Gavhe, Naad Beach resort – Murud, Mangalmurti Niwas – Jalgaon, Hotel Abhishek – Jalgaon etc.

 This butterfly can be easily noticed due to its prominent orange bands.  It is

mainly seen in forested areas &  sometimes outside forested areas. It is seen from March to December.

While beautifying the area around a house (as seen in photographs of one of our
projects), a walkway is planned in such a way as to take a walk in the whole area.

आमच्या एका प्रकल्पातील घरासभोवतालच्या  बागेचे आरेखन व तयार होत असलेली बाग. या बागेमध्ये फिरण्यासाठी paver blocks वापरून  एक  मार्ग तयार केलेला आहे.

Environment Conservation Series – Mangroves

Mangroves are found in coastal areas in tropical & subtropical region. They serve as important buffer between sea & land. They lessen the impact  of storms, reduce erosion & increase sedimentation. They have various adaptations to survive in the muddy soil & salty water.

We need to conserve this ecosystem because in addition to various benefits, protection of shore line is the most important one.

समुद्र किनारी आढळणारी खारफुटीची वने ही एक महत्वाची परिसंस्था आहे. यालाच खाजण असेही म्हणतात. या वनांमुळे समुद्र किनारपट्टीचे रक्षण होते, त्यामुळे या वनांचे संवर्धन करणे गरजेचे आहे.

निसर्ग परिचय उपक्रम

शालेय विद्यार्थ्यांसाठी आम्ही कॉप्स नर्सरी गव्हे दापोली येथे आयोजित केलेल्या कार्यानुभव कार्यक्रमाच्या यशानंतर आता आम्ही आमच्या दापोली आणि परिसरातील निसर्ग परिचय उपक्रमाविषयी थोडक्यात माहिती देत आहोत.

“सहजपणे आणि हसत खेळत निसर्ग परिचय” असा हा २ – ३ किंवा ५ दिवसांचा कार्यक्रम दापोली येथे होऊ शकतो. आपली प्रवास, निवास व भोजन व्यवस्था आपणच करायची असून साधारणपणे १५ ते २० जणांचा गट योग्य ठरेल.  आपण आपल्या परिचित व्यक्तींना  किंवा काही विद्यार्थी व पालकांना एकत्रितपणे या उपक्रमासाठी आमंत्रित करू शकता. दापोली येथे सुखरूपपणे पोहोचणे आणि सर्व कार्यक्रम चांगल्याप्रकारे अनुभवून सुखरूपपणे आपापल्या स्थळी परत जाणे हे आपल्यापैकी कोणीतरी कुशल नेतृत्व करू  शकेल हे आपण पहालच. त्यासाठी आवश्यक त्या सर्व बाबींचा आपण योग्य प्रकारे विचार करून ह्या कार्यक्रमाचे नियोजन करू शकता.

कोणत्याही शनिवार / रविवारी किंवा आपल्या सोयीनुसार कधीही – उदा. – दिवाळी किंवा नाताळच्या सुट्टीत देखील ह्या कार्यक्रमाचे नियोजन आपण करू शकाल. आम्ही खालील टेबल मध्ये दिलेले उपक्रम आपल्यासाठी करण्यास उत्सुक आहोत. आपण दापोली किंवा परिसरातील गावांमध्ये आपल्या सोयीच्या ठिकाणी राहू शकता. आपला संपूर्ण प्रवास, राहणे, जेवणे व दापोली परिसरातील फिरणे हे सर्व आपल्यालाच करावयाचे आहे. आम्ही फक्त खालील कार्यक्रम आपणासाठी देऊ. ह्या कार्यक्रमांच्या आमच्या मानधनासाठी कृपया  आमच्याशी संपर्क साधावा.

एकूणच हा अनुभव सुखावह होण्यासाठी खालील काही गोष्टी लक्षात घेतल्यास बरे होईल.

  • येथे येताना प्रत्येकाने  आपापल्या गरजेनुसार आवश्यक ते साहित्य – उदा. – लोकरीचे कपडे, blanket, torch etc. साहित्य आपल्या सोबत आणावे.
  • camera, द्विनेत्री आणि इतर मौल्यवान साहित्य आपापल्या जबाबदारीवरच आणावे.
  • आमच्या विविध कार्यक्रमांपैकी एका कार्यक्रमामध्ये आपण समुद्रकिनारी चालणार आहोत पण त्यामध्ये समुद्राच्या पाण्यामध्ये जायची परवानगी नाही कारण ते धोकादायक ठरू शकते.
  • १५ / २० जणांच्या समूहामध्ये एकत्र राहताना, राहण्याचे ठिकाण आणि इतर  सोयींच्या बाबतीत ( रहायची जागा, पाणी, जेवण इत्यादी) समजून आणि जुळवून घ्यावे लागू शकते.
  • वरील सूचनांप्रमाणेच  आपल्या सर्वांच्या सुरक्षित आणि आरामदायक अशा अनुभवासाठी आपणही आवश्यक अशा गोष्टी वेळोवेळी सर्वाना सांगाव्या.
  • शहरातील गजबजाटातून ३ / ४ दिवसांसाठी आपण जेव्हा शांत आणि निसर्गरम्य अशा ठिकाणी जातो तेव्हा आपण सर्वांनी शांत राहून निसर्गाची शांतता तर कधी ऐकू  येणारे निसर्गाचे संगीत अनुभवण्याची तयारी ठेवायला हवी. आपण शांत राहून निसर्गाकडून खूप काही शिकू आणि अनुभवू शकतो.

आमचा कार्यक्रम हा माणसाच्या निसर्गाशी असलेल्या नात्याचे अंतरंग उलगडून दाखवण्याचा एक छोटासा प्रयत्न आहे. जर आपल्याला निसर्ग जाणून घ्यायचा असेल तर निसर्गात जायला हवं. यामध्ये निसर्ग जाणून घेणे किंवा निसर्गाबद्दल काही गोष्टी शिकणे  हा एक भाग आहे. आपणही निसर्गाचा एक घटक आहोत,  एक व्यक्ती म्हणून आपण निसर्ग  संवर्धनामध्ये काय करू शकतो हे जाणून घेण्यासाठी हा एक उपक्रम आहे.

१ निसर्ग भ्रमण(१ – १.५ तास) दापोली आणि परिसरातील कोणतेही योग्य  गाव चालेल सकाळी लवकर ७:०० ते ८:३०जास्तीत जास्त २० जणांचा समूह
२ खारफुटी वनांचा परिचय(१ – १.५ तास) आंजर्ले किंवा केळशी जवळील उतंबर गाव दिवसभरात कोणत्याही वेळी(शक्यतो दुपारची कडक उन्हाची वेळ सोडून)जास्तीत जास्त २० जणांचा समूह
३ शेतीला / बागेला भेट(१ – १.५ तास) दापोली आणि परिसरातील कोणतेही योग्य गाव चालेल दिवसभरात कोणत्याही वेळीजास्तीत जास्त ३० जणांचा समूह
४ रोपवाटिकेला भेट – फेरफटका आणि विविध प्रात्यक्षिके(२ –  २.५  तास) कॉप्स नर्सरी गव्हे – दापोली नर्सरीमध्ये विविध प्रकारच्या झाडांची ओळख. प्रात्यक्षिकासाठी साहित्य पुरविले जाईल परंतु यापैकी कोणत्याही गोष्टी आपल्याला बरोबर नेता येणार नाहीत.जास्तीत जास्त ३० जणांचा समूह
५ रोपवाटिकेत फेरफटका(१ तास) कॉप्स नर्सरी गव्हे – दापोली नर्सरीमध्ये फेरफटका आणि विविध प्रकारच्या झाडांची ओळख.जास्तीत जास्त ३० जणांचा समूह
६ रोपवाटिकेत  कार्यानुभव आणि विविध प्रात्यक्षिके(१ – १.५ तास) कॉप्स नर्सरी गव्हे – दापोली बी बियाण्याची पेरणी, रोपांची लागवड आणि विविध प्रात्यक्षिके. कार्यानुभवासाठी साहित्य पुरविले जाईल परंतु यापैकी कोणत्याही गोष्टी आपल्याला बरोबर नेता येणार नाहीत.जास्तीत जास्त ३० जणांचा समूह
७ स्लाईड शो / व्याख्यान(१ तास) आपण राहत असलेले ठिकाण पर्यावरण विषयक विविध विषय. प्रोजेक्टर आपल्याला उपलब्ध करावा लागेल. हि सुविधा आमच्याकडे नाही. तसेच विजेची उपलब्धताही लक्षात घ्यायला हवी.जास्तीत जास्त ५० जणांचा समूह
८ पर्यावरणीय खेळ(१ – १.५ तास) आपण राहत असलेले ठिकाण दिवसभरात कोणत्याही वेळीजास्तीत जास्त २० जणांचा समूह.
 ९ निसर्गाची / निसर्गातील काही घटकांची चित्रे काढणे आणि रंगवणे(१ – १.५ तास) आपण राहत असलेले ठिकाण आवश्यक ते साहित्य (कागद, रंग इ.) आम्ही पुरवू. रंगवलेली चित्रे आपण घेऊन जाऊ शकता.जास्तीत जास्त २० जणांचा समूह.

NATURE Education Activities at DAPOLI

Further to overwhelming response from most of you towards our “hands on experience” session for school children at Kop’s nursery, Dapoli, we are detailing salient features of the Nature Education Activities to be experienced at & around DAPOLI.

In keeping with the objectives of Learning as you Relax, we can suggest a 2 or 3day stay at DAPOLI. You may find options for lodging & boarding for the group from internet OR we can suggest some, if you feel so.  A group of 15 to 20 persons would be ideal but we could stretch up to 25 people. If you are interested in bringing a group of students you can manage the same with appropriate responsibility. OR it may be a group of interested parents & children. This can be planned during week ends as well as during forthcoming Diwali and Christmas holidays.

Besides each one’s Personal Effects, items like Woolens, torch, sleeping bags etc. would make the trip more comfortable.

However we must stress that:

Binoculars, camera & any other valuable items should be brought at your own risk.

One of our sessions include a walk along the sea shore, nobody will be allowed to go in the sea as it is dangerous.

Participants should be informed that they should develop a Camp Attitude, where adjustment to other members of the group, food, water and general living facilities may not be to individual tastes.

All Instructions given by us should be followed while on the trail esp. in the Forest.

In addition to our guidelines, you can include your disciplinary instructions for the participants.

As we are all used to a noisy and lively action in the Metropolis, all Participants should be requested to enjoy nature’s experience in SILENCE and try to maintain this silence throughout the trip.  This will help them experience and practice NATURE’S relaxation techniques.

It is a fact that if one has to know nature one has to be with nature. This event will aim to give broad idea about nature & its functioning along with man’s co-relation to nature. It will be holistic approach to look at nature & our individual roles in nature’s conservation; this will be the main objective of the event.

Learn with FUN – PLANTS

21st September was an unforgettable day for us. We got an opportunity to conduct a session of “Hands on experience about various aspects of plant life” jointly with Kop’s Nursery, Gavhe – Dapoli, ( www.kopsnursery.com ) for students of Beacon High (3rd, 4th & 5th Std.) from Mumbai. There were a total of 84 students.

२१ सप्टेंबर हा दिवस आमच्यासाठी अविस्मरणीय ठरला. मुंबईच्या बेकन हाय शाळेच्या ८४ विद्यार्थ्यांसाठी एक आगळा वेगळा कार्यक्रम करण्याची  संधी आम्हाला मिळाली. विद्यार्थ्यांना नर्सरी मध्ये वनस्पतींची ओळख व कार्यानुभव असा कार्यक्रम होता.  कॉप्स नर्सरी , गव्हे  ( www.kopsnursery.com ) ह्यांच्या सहकार्यामुळे आम्ही हा कार्यक्रम त्यांच्या नर्सरी मध्ये  घेऊ शकलो.

Introductory Session at Kop's Nursery

Our 10+ years’ experience in conducting such types of educational activities with various age groups starting from 3 years helped us in making this event a grand success. Satisfaction and joy expressed by students as well as teachers was our most treasured gain.

Further to introductory session we divided the whole event into 3 activities, viz., a round in the nursery to know various types of plants, practical session and demonstration session. We divided these students in 2 groups.

In practical session, the students enjoyed the experience of handling soil, manure, coco peat, moss and other material. Filling up of poly bags and root trainers was also enjoyed by them. All of them took equal interest in demonstration of various propagation techniques like air layering, stone grafting and transplanting.

Interacting with them was an equally enjoyable experience for both of us. The keen interest shown by teachers as well as students encouraged us. Even Mr. Uday Phadke and other TEAM members of Kop’s Nursery enjoyed being with the students due to their enthusiasm and interest in all the activities. Active contribution of Mr. Bernard of Bensley Tours, Treks & Adventure and Ms. Alpana of Chiplun Hotels during practical & demonstration session showed their interest in this activity.

While Jilpa took one group on nursery round, I conducted practical & demonstration sessions for another group with the help of Kop’s Nursery TEAM. We would like to share here two incidences which reflected the understanding of students as well as their imagination power.

When Jilpa was showing leaves of Monstera, the moment she told the name,

one of the students replied, “Yes, it looks so scary!” This reflects their understanding that comes only through interest & keen observation.

When they saw yellow flowers of Cassia alata, one of the students promptly said, “It looks like a corn.” What an imagination!

Overall it was an astonishing experience for all of us. Their discipline was worth mentioning. Teachers took deep interest throughout the event.

३ वर्षांच्या मुलांपासून ते मोठ्यांपर्यन्तच्या सर्व वयोगटातील लोकांसाठी काम करण्याच्या आमच्या अनेक वर्षांच्या अनुभवामुळे हा कार्यक्रम यशस्वी झाला.

हा कार्यक्रम आम्ही ३ टप्प्यांमध्ये घेतला.

१ – नर्सरी भ्रमंती – ज्यात विविध प्रकारच्या वनस्पतींची ओळख करून देण्यात आली.

२ – प्रत्यक्ष कार्यानुभव – ज्यात मुलांनी माती, खत, कोको पिट, मॉस अशा वेगवेगळ्या गोष्टी हाताळण्याचा अनुभव घेतला. रोपांसाठी पिशव्या भरण्याचा आणि बी पेरण्याचा  अनुभवही त्यांना आनंदित करून गेला.

३ – प्रात्याक्षिके – काही गोष्टींची प्रात्याक्षिके त्यांना दाखविली. त्यात गुटी कलम, कोय कलम, रोपांची पुनर्लागवड अशा गोष्टींचा समावेश होता.

विद्यार्थ्यांसाठी हा कार्यक्रम घेणे हा आम्हा दोघांसाठीदेखील तितकाच आनंददायी अनुभव होता. त्यांच्या प्रत्येक गोष्टीतील आवडीमुळे आम्हालाही प्रोत्साहन मिळाले.  कॉप्स नर्सरीचे श्री. उदय  फडके  व त्यांच्या सहकार्यांना देखील विद्यार्थ्यांचा उत्साह आणि आवड पाहून समाधान वाटले . सगळे  वातावरण मुलांच्या व शिक्षकांच्या उत्साहाने भारावून गेले होते.

मुलांची कल्पनाशक्ती तसेच त्यांची आकलन  क्षमता यांची दोन उदाहरणे मला येथे नमूद करावीशी वाटतात.

जेव्हा मुलांनी Cassia alata ह्या झुडुपाची पिवळी फुले बघितली तेव्हा एका मुलाने सांगितले “ते मक्याच्या कणीसासारखे दिसत आहे.” ही आहे त्यांची कल्पनाशक्ती! जेव्हा त्यांना Monstera ची पाने दाखविली तेव्हा हे नाव सांगितल्याक्षणी एक मुलगी तत्परतेने म्हणाली “होय, ते पान किती भीतिदायक दिसत आहे.” ही त्यांची आकलनक्षमता थक्क करणारी होती.

हा संपूर्ण अनुभव आम्हा सर्वांसाठी खूपच समाधानकारक असा होता. मुलांची शिस्त त्यांचे कौतुक करावे अशीच होती. हा कार्यक्रम यशस्वी होण्यासाठी सर्व शिक्षकानीही खूप सहकार्य केले तसेच
